The Drop Fund

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Drop Fund?

The Drop Fund is a micro-grant designed to support the unseen but essential costs that keep small organisations, collectives and early-stage initiatives alive.

It exists to fund the things that rarely get funded, the admin, systems, time, tools and infrastructure that allow good work to continue.

Small drops create ripples. This is one of them.

Who can apply?

You can apply if your organisation or group:

  • Is not-for-profit (any surplus is reinvested, not paid out to individuals)

  • Is based in and primarily delivers work in the UK

  • Has a UK bank account in the organisation’s name

  • Is small, grassroots, early-stage, or under-resourced

You don’t need to be perfect. You do need to be honest.

Why does The Drop Fund exist?

Because the funding system is broken.

Too many people doing vital work are locked out of funding by complex applications. The Drop Fund is a direct response to that.

We believe:

  • Trust is more powerful than red tape

  • Small amounts of money can create real momentum

  • People closest to the problem deserve easier access to resources

Who cannot apply?

The Drop Fund cannot fund:

  • Individuals, sole traders or partnerships

  • Schools, PTAs or “Friends of” groups attached to larger institutions

  • For-profit companies that distribute profits to shareholders or directors

  • Organisations whose values conflict with inclusion and equity

How much is the grant?

Each Drop Fund grant is from £100 - £500

You can:

  • Use it for one cost

  • Split it across multiple small costs

  • Put it towards something larger

It’s not about scale, it’s about relief, breathing room, and progress.

The actual amount awarded is decided by the Drop Fund team and is based on the business needs; all decisions are final.

What can the funding be used for?

The Drop Fund is for essential costs that just need a little cash, such as:

  • Insurance

  • Web hosting or domains

  • Accountancy or bookkeeping

  • Admin or coordination time

  • Software, systems or subscriptions

  • Training or compliance

  • Office or operational costs

These grants are not for project delivery or flashy outputs.

What can’t the funding be used for?

We cannot fund:

  • For-profit activity

  • Costs already paid for

  • VAT that can be reclaimed

  • Alcohol or medication

  • Gifts or cash given directly to individuals

  • Anything that promotes harm, exclusion or hate

Is there reporting?

Yes.

There is a drop amount of reporting.

We want to hear the good news of how the fund has helped, so we ask for a short statement and a team picture so that we can showcase your company and the fund.

No private and confidential information will be shared on social media.

How are grants selected?

We read every single application! Those who meet the baseline requirements are then reviewed for a final time to help remove bias and keep the process fair.

When will I hear back?

You’ll be contacted whether you’re successful or not, with clear instructions if you receive a grant.

No ghosting. Ever.

Who funds The Drop Fund?

The Drop Fund is powered by individual donors and community supporters who believe small organisations deserve better access to funding.

Every pound is given with intention and trust.

Who runs The Drop Fund?

The Drop Fund is delivered by The Fourge, an innovation house built to support people with raw ideas, lived experience and world-changing potential, long before the system decides they’re “ready”.

We back people before they believe in themselves.
