FAQs

What is The Fourge?

The Fourge is an innovation house where raw ideas meet belief, support, and fire — and are shaped into tools the world needs next. We design programmes, funding initiatives, and experiences that support founders, creatives, and changemakers.

Who is The Fourge for?

The Fourge is for people with ideas, ambition, or lived experience, including women, young people, underfunded founders, creatives, and those who don’t always see themselves represented in traditional innovation spaces.

You don’t need everything figured out to belong here.

Do I need a business idea to get involved?

No. Some Fourge initiatives help you shape an idea from scratch, while others support people who are already building. We meet you where you are.

What initiatives does The Fourge run?

The Fourge delivers five core initiatives:

  • It’s a Girl Thing – supporting women and girls to build bold, world-changing businesses

  • The 40% Club – funding and amplifying underfunded founders

  • The Deep – immersive, TED-style storytelling experiences

  • The Drop Fund – £100–£500 micro-grants for early-stage businesses

  • The Fourge – our innovation house and programme hub

How do I apply for programmes or funding?

Opportunities are shared through our website and communications. When applications are open, you can apply directly online. Each initiative has its own criteria and selection process.

Is funding guaranteed if I apply?

No. Funding and programme places are competitive and discretionary. Applying does not guarantee support, but all applications are reviewed carefully.

Are advisory board roles paid?

Yes. All Fourge advisory board positions are paid and based on agreed terms.

Do you work with young people?

Yes. Some Fourge programmes are designed specifically for young people. Where participants are under 18, we apply additional safeguarding and consent measures.

Is The Fourge a charity?

No. The Fourge is a UK Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) with a strong social purpose. We work in the public interest but are not a registered charity.

Can organisations or funders partner with The Fourge?

Absolutely. We partner with organisations, brands, and funders who share our values and want to support innovation, inclusion, and opportunity.

Do you take equity in businesses you support?

No. Fourge funding initiatives, including The Drop Fund, are equity-free unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Who owns the ideas created through Fourge programmes?

Participants retain ownership of their ideas and businesses unless otherwise agreed in writing.

How do you use my data?

We only collect data that is necessary to deliver our work. All personal data is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR requirements.
